A MAN was robbed and knocked unconscious as he walked along a street in Walsall.

The 24-year-old was assaulted and robbed after approaching a group of around six men in Ablewell Street between 3am and 4am on Friday 21 December.

The victim remembers speaking to a member of the group but then he blacked out, when he regained consciousness he found that his wallet and phone had been stolen.

He was taken to hospital with swelling to his face, minor injuries to his eyes and an injury to his shoulder.

Detective Constable Jon Baker, of Walsall CID, said: “As part of our investigation we are trying to piece together what happened to the victim after he approached the group.

“Although the robbery happened in the early hours of the morning there may have been people making their way home from the town centre who witnessed it. The victim’s only memory of the incident is that the group of men he was talking to were of mixed race.

“If you have any information about what happened or can help to identify any of the people involved, please contact us as soon as possible.”
